City State Diner, Morning Meal Eaten and Reviewed

by BreakfastGuy on June 13, 2012 · 0 comments

I have now made three trips for breakfast or brunch to City State Diner, and I’ve decided that City State is the perfect name for the place. It is a diner in a city in a state, serving the morning meal to people at tables in a room.

I once did a “live” review of the place and concluded that I wold be surprised if people either loved or hated it. Online reviews are all over the place. The Mercury loved it up thoroughly. Crew members Maria and Kerry liked it pretty well, judging from their Facebook comments. But none of my other 550+ followers even responded. Not sure what the last one means, except maybe I suck at engaging my Facebook readers.

I think it’s the perfectly generic Portland breakfast and brunch place. The decor isn’t that interesting, the staff is nice, the food is fine, the location is a little tricky for parking, and the menu (PDF) is pretty big. I have had three meals and kind of shrugged at each, to be honest. It’s fine. And it was served quickly, even on a pretty crowded Saturday morning. I don’t know what else to say!

Uh … here are some pictures.

I probably should take some kind of stand here, but I just can’t get fired up about the place. If somebody says let’s meet there, I’m game. If it’s up to me, there’s about a dozen places I’d rather go. It’s fine. Whatever. I’m going hiking.
